We all recoil at the sight of Mei; her endothermic blaster, freeze drone and ice walls are enough to send even the surliest of gamers running in the opposite direction. If you knew about her origins though, you'd probably feel a little bit sorry for her. Maybe.

See, Mei never lived a sheltered existence. Her role as a climate scientist often meant she was forced to endure inhospitable conditions and, in one particularly disastrous encounter, it forced her to resort to cryostasis. It gets worse however, as no one else in her entire team survived the experience. She was the sole survivor.

Ouch.

Despite this, Overwatch's foremost climate scientist is still a friendly presence on the team. She's idolised by teammates old and new and, despite the fact she's a massive nuisance on the battlefield, is a pretty interesting character to read up on.
