Overwatch 2: 13 Things We Learned From Blizzconline
6. Hero Missions
Despite having its own unique PVP element, the main draw of Overwatch 2 is its Co-op PVE experience, with story missions that allow players to level up their characters under specific skill trees (which we'll talk about in a later entry).
The way the devs seem to be stacking up and mixing up different maps and map weather and objectives and enemies means that playing a mission will likely feel different almost every time, with missions specific to Overwatch's ongoing story.
Each mission allows players to pick different characters whose dialogue will change and whose stories and personalities will grow and develop. This also may mean that there is a "canon" composition of heroes based on the main plot, similar to the base teams of Overwatch's Archives event.
Though the general consensus is that players will be going on Overwatch missions with Winston's new lineup, perhaps, with the ability to play as villains as well as heroes, there will also be Talon missions on the table.
According to the devs, their goal is to make "as many hero missions as possible", and they seem well on their way to doing just that, which is an exciting prospect for replayability.
