Overwatch: Ranking All Events So Far
6. Uprising (Archives)
Uprising, the first event of its kind before the event proper even got its name, was the first of the Archives events which got people excited for what was to come.
It dug deeper into the lore that many got into Overwatch for in the first place, and might even have served as a blueprint for the plans behind Overwatch 2, which will be more story focused than the current competitive 6v6 shooter.
Uprising presented the story of Tracer's first mission, giving background to omnic conflicts post Omnic Crisis, showing what happened to London to turn it into such an anti-omnic hotbed, as well as show more of Mondatta's role in omnic-human relations. It also gave us the mind-blowing revelation that was Gabriel Reyes's voice pre-Reaper, as well as Overwatch skins that dug into their history pre-fall.
The gameplay was similar to the Halloween event in its PVE elements, but felt like a proper Overwatch mission, and introduced many brand new enemies on top of previous, more hostile versions of Orisa and Bastion.
It would soon be outshone by its follow-up, but can still be appreciated for what it kicked off.
