Overwatch: Ranking All Events So Far
5. Winter Wonderland
The energy behind Winter Wonderland is undeniably carried even further due to the holidays themselves, inspiring festivity in players with the different snow-based challenges, from Yeti Hunter to Mei's snowball brawls, as well as the wintery reskins of different maps.
The skins during these events have been almost consistently great with few exceptions, many character designs changed drastically when put into either fantastical icy versions of themselves (with Sombra and Sigma being major examples), or in Christmassy outfits for those who would reasonably celebrate that holiday (such as Torbjorn's Santa skin and Soldier's ugly sweater).
Even outside of the game itself, the winter holidays bring blessings to the Overwatch fandom. One of the greatest examples is that of Jeff Kaplan's 10 hour Yule Log stream - a confusingly delightful stream in which Jeff Kaplan, head dev and face of Overwatch, sits in a chair doing absolutely nothing for hours on end, except in very rare moments where he moves slightly, takes out a package and does an activity, or eats some delicious treats.
Though we didn't get the infamous Yule Log stream for 2020 (probably due to COVID), one hopes it doesn't stop being a valued Overwatch holiday tradition.
