7. The Controller
The controller for the new system has also been the subject of much debate and we have seen several variations in supposed design ahead of Sony's big reveal today. One design we have seen has been the
SplitShock design which supposedly allows you to break the controller into two separate pieces down the middle in order to use it as a peripheral for PlayStation Move titles. Another design we have seen, which seems like being the more likely of the two, has been the
supposedly leaked DualShock-like controller. The biggest difference between the two designs is the clear omission of the tried and tested analogue sticks, as well as, obviously, the break-in-half functionality. A new addition to the controller, which seems to be widely accepted considering it features on both proposed designs, is the touch screen device visible instead of the standard "Start and Select" buttons, which marks something of a shift in design on Sony's half. Of the two controllers, it is widely suggested the latter will be the one used on the next generation console but we will have to wait and see.
