3. Vita-Phone
Leading on from a potential PlayStation Vita 2, there have been calls for Sonys next handheld console to break into the mobile industry. In a time where mobile phones are launched left, right and centre, the mobile market is a genuine direction which Sony could explore further. The Xperia Play was a tentative feeler into this market, and did have some strong points: it proved traditional gaming buttons worked well on a mobile platform, and performed nicely overall. Ultimately the Xperia Play failed, though, but only through its lack of available software and a fairly weak marketing campaign. If the Vita were given mobile phone capabilities, it would also sell the device to casual gamers, opening up a whole new market for Sony, while catering for those who are after their PlayStation fix on the go.
