PlayStation 4: 5 Announcements We'd Love Sony To Make (And 4 That Would Be Terrible)

4. No Backwards Compatibility

ps3 One of the biggest rumours doing the rounds on fan forums in recent months has been the suggestion that the PlayStation 4 won't be backwards compatible, as in, it will be unable to play PlayStation 3 games. There's a very good reason for this - money. If PS3 games don't work on the PS4, said games will likely be made available for sale on the PlayStation network as "classic" titles, which is making a bit of a mockery of fans' intelligence really. I have accumulated a vast array of PS3 games over the years and to make them essentially redundant upon release of the PlayStation 4 would be a bit of a savage blow on Sony's part. However, it was suggested earlier today that the PS4 will be backwards compatible thanks to a streaming service that will get PS3 games onto the new console. Nothing has been confirmed yet, and until Wednesday, we will be waiting with baited breath.
