PlayStation 4: 5 Announcements We'd Love Sony To Make (And 4 That Would Be Terrible)

3. The SplitShock Controller

splitshock We touched on the new controller and what it could look like earlier on, and one of the worst things Sony could do on Wednesday is reveal the "SplitShock" controller as the successor to the tried and trusted DualShock. Not only does it look hideous, but it also ditches several features that were so useful on the current PlayStation controller, namely the time-honoured analogue sticks. The biggest differences here, and one of them, admittedly, is a positive change, is the addition of the "Share" button (which would be cool) and the ability for the controller to split in half, hence "SplitShock" which certainly would not be cool. The idea of having half a controller in each hand for motion-sensor gaming just sounds clumsy and uncomfortable. I'd much prefer one solid motion-sensor controller similar to the wii-remote. Also, for those of us who have absolutely no interest in motion-controlled games, *cough* like me *cough*, the "SplitShock" would be a pointless and inconvenient design. Keep the peripherals for "move" titles separate, please.
