PlayStation 4: 5 Reasons Why You Should Be Disappointed With The Launch

4. It's Not Backwards Compatible

PS3games Prior to Sony's unveiling of the PlayStation 4, one of the most hotly discussed topics in the gaming community would be whether or not the console would allow for backwards compatibility, as in, be able to play "old" PS3 games. Some said it would, others, perhaps more world weary than the rest, pointed out that it definitely wouldn't, and they were correct. The Sony PS4 will NOT be backwards compatible. Now that I have left the disappointment to soak in a little, here's the (slightly) good news. It WILL be backwards compatible, to an extent, via Sony's Gaikai Cloud streaming service that uploads digital versions of all your old favourites onto the PS4, disc free. Back to the bad news, though. Take a look at your PS3 collection - Do you really want to go out and purchase digital versions of games you already own just for the sake of playing them on the PS4? We guess not.
