Pokémon: 10 Dumbest Gameplay Features Of All Time
5. Day Care Levelling
For a game that focuses its players towards committed progression and a detailed eye for their Pokémon's movesets, the inclusion of a mechanic that completely negates this is very odd indeed. Leaving a member of your team in the hands of Day Care assistants stops you having to raise them on your own for as long as you decided to be relieved of them.
Once you return, you'll pay a premium price for a battler that's had its level increased. It's so pointless and unfulfilling to train a Pokémon this way, especially when it isn't exactly difficult to raise them on your own. And what makes matters worse is that you could find all of your Pokémon's best moves have been forgotten as the Day Care team simply delete the oldest move in favour of a new one. Not exactly a considered approach...
Admittedly the Day Care does have its uses; leaving two Pokémon there for breeding and egg creation is obviously a great mechanic, especially when it allows access to certain moves that a Pokémon may not have otherwise learned. Its original purpose, however, will never be as worthy.
