Pokémon: 10 Weirdest Evolution Methods
2. Eevee To Sylveon
With eight to choose from, there were bound to be at least a couple of odd Eeveelutions. With the first seven secondary forms of Eevee utilising evolutionary stones, evolving via friendship and evolving based on location, the game designers were running out of options by the time Sylveon was introduced in generation six. But as the Fairy Pokémon was the face of an entirely new typing, they had to come up with something different.
As if it wasn't enough that Eevee has to level up with at least two levels of Affection, it also needs to know a Fairy type move at the same time. While this may not sound too complicated, it becomes more difficult the closer it is studied.
Eevee does learn Baby-Doll Eyes at level nine in generation six, but the Normal type Pokémon is typically available in the wild at much higher levels than this. Learning a move by way of TM is also out of the question, since there is only one Fairy type TM in all of Kalos, that can't even be taught to an Eevee. This means the trainer must raise Eevee up to level 29 in order to learn Charm.
This may be more difficult than it sounds, since an unevolved Eevee is rarely any use in a battle situation, so a lot of switch training may be required here.
