3. Rare Pokemon Become Rarer
It is a wonderful thing to come across a rare Pokémon in the wild. Take Kangaskhan in the Safari Zone in Kanto. It is a very rare Pokémon, but if you spend enough time looking around the Safari Zone then it is inevitable that you will encounter one. This takes the magic out of it when you think about it.
However, when playing a Nuzlocke Challenge, the rare Pokémon, such as Kangaskhan, really do become a genuinely rare capture. Unless the Kangaskhan is the first Pokémon that you encounter, which is a lot more unlikely than having unlimited attempts to catch it, you won't be able to add it to your team.
This is the same principle for the 'uncommon' Pokémon also. While a rare Pokémon becomes ultra-rare, the uncommon Pokémon become rare and so on. While this may seem like a hindrance to the player, it actually fills the game with that little bit more magic that first captured out hearts.
