Pokémon Gold & Silver: 10 Best Gen 2 Pokémon
8. Quagsire
Almost all of the Pokémon on this list check the aesthetic box. Usually a good, strong Pokémon will have the looks to suit. Quagsire is not one of these Pokémon, and there is nothing wrong with that. The almost vacant expression on it's face is reminiscent of Slowpoke or Psyduck, two powerful and underrated Pokémon from generation one.
Quagsire is a second level Pokémon, evolving from Wooper at level 20 which is a relatively low level for a full evolution. This gave trainers the opportunity to battle with a strong, fully grown Pokémon early in the game.
But without a doubt the ace up Quagsire's sleeve is the fact that it is a dual Water/Ground type. This Ground typing completely eradicated one of the Water type's biggest weaknesses. It wasn't just that Electric types weren't very effective against the blue monster, but they didn't effect it at all.
This particular typing at the time made Quagsire an undeniable one of a kind, and limited it's weaknesses to just one. So long as the trainer kept Quagsire away from Grass type Pokémon, they could fight almost any opponent and stand a strong chance of victory.
