Pokémon Let’s Go! Switch: 10 Features Fans Demand
9. Feel Like A Classic Pokémon Game (But With More RPG Elements)
When people ask me what the appeal of Pokémon as a franchise is, I always give some answer about it being one of the most rewarding party-building and micromanagement games I’ve ever played.
At its heart, the core games are about building a varied and adaptable team of monsters to take on a huge array of opponents. Let’s Go absolutely shouldn’t change that, but given the franchise always just falls short of being one of the all-time great RPGs, it needs to go further.
The immersion and world building is never quite there, when compared to something like Zelda or Final Fantasy, and there’s no real sense of being able to chart your own route through the story or the mechanics. Imagine establishing yourself as a breeder and getting egg bonuses that your friends don’t, or being some sort of water specialist that gets bonuses in the sea. Put fans in that world and watch them thrive.
