2. Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl Bring the Old-School Action

Of course, while virtual concerts and mobile apps are all welcome additions to the ever-growing Pokemon buffet table, it's the core games that are the franchise's bread and butter.

From the original Pokemon Red and Blue (or Red and Green if we're counting the Japanese entries) to 2019's Sword and Shield, Pokemon's potent combination of turn-based battling and cute-critter-collecting has been addicting gamers for 25 years.

Having said that, the announcement of Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl was the closest thing Pokemon Presents got to a disappointment.

To be clear, the original Diamond and Pearl were great games, and their remakes are sure to be a fun time for newcomers and veterans alike. However, from what has been shown it looks like Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl are playing things a little too safe.

From the rather simplistic graphics to the decision to stick with the out-dated top-down camera, everything points at a remake that's content to wallow in old memories, rather than create new ones.

Had this been Pokemon Presents big finale, it would have been a slightly disappointing ending to what had been an excellent video. Fortunately, Nintendo channeled the spirit of Steve Jobs and announced one more thing...
