Pokémon: Ranking The Starters Of All 6 Generations From Worst To Best
12. Cyndaquil
Cyndaquil was definitely the highlight of the three starter Pokémon on offer in Gold & Silver, but it still can't quite make a lasting mark on this list. Coming off the back of the first generation, the designs Cyndaquil and its family look uninspired.
It's also a comparatively slow developer, demanding quite a lot of work and training to get it through the stages to its final form. Given that it doesn't learn any medium to high powered attacks until very late on, Cyndaquil can be a frustrating Pokémon to train effectively.
Admittedly Typhlosion is a pretty bada$$ looking thing, and one which matches the base stats of a Charizard almost identically. It has the benefit of being solely a Fire Type Pokémon - the only final stage starter that is - and so if you're looking to minimise your team's typing weaknesses then it could still do a great job for you.
