Pokemon Sun And Moon: 10 Things Fans Demand

8. Dump Mega-Evolutions (A Bit)

Mega Lucario
Nintendo

Mega Evolutions were (from a marketing standpoint at least) a smart move in the last generation. Suddenly old favourites were revived and given a fresh and exciting new feel, which not only added something cool for newer players, but gave jaded old fans of earlier installments a reason to revisit the series.

But, and let's not pretend otherwise, they were a cheap and tacky addition to the battle mechanics. Sure, the first few times that a mega stone came to the rescue of tight contest it seemed like a lot of fun, but using the feature essentially became playing the game on easy mode. There was suddenly very little need to train your team effectively as, so long as a few had the ability, they'd be able to swing battles they'd otherwise rightly have lost.

Nintendo are too invested in it to let it go now (The Sapphire and Ruby remakes were a perfect opportunity to ditch it but, instead, they added to it) but reigning it in so that the stones only have a finite amount of power, or can only be used at certain times would restore the balance somewhat. Maybe only have them work in certain parts of the map or in battles against certain (over-powered) opponents.
