Pokémon Sun & Moon: 10 Things It Must Lose From X & Y
4. Drop The Game-Breaking Exp. Share
The Exp. Share has been a useful item in the aspiring Pokémon Master's backpack for years now, and its inclusion in X & Y was hardly a surprise. What was a surprise, however, was that the thing had suddenly been overpowered beyond all belief.
Whereas in previous games the item would be given to just one Pokémon to feel its benefits, this new version was simply switched on or off and allowed all additional party Pokémon to gain a measure of experience from all battles. Suddenly every single one of your Pokémon could be trained in a battle that only your strongest one actually fought in.
This could obviously be turned off so that players left puzzled by its unnecessary strength weren't too put-off by the rapid growth of their team, but it did mean that old Exp.Share techniques for raising newly caught or hatched Pokémon weren't available either. You either had to choose the annoyingly hard way or the painfully easy way to train Pokémon, with no happy medium being on the cards anymore.
It's time to ditch this experiment and go back to the classic Exp. Share!
