Pokémon Switch: 10 Ways To Make The Best Pokémon Game Ever

4. Better Multiplayer Functionality

Game Freak

Pokémon has always been a social gaming experience. Generations that grew up with the originals will have fond memories of trading with and battling their peers on the playground, humble beginnings that have since evolved to take place over online multiplayer.

To date, Sun & Moon's Festival Plaza is the closest Game Freak's ever come to opening up a digital space for Trainers to mingle and directly interact with each other, but there's only so much support the feature can get when roadblocked by the 3DS' archaic Friend Code system.

The mainline series isn't about to betray its origins and become an MMO anytime soon, but it would be ace if Game Freak could play up to Pokémon's social aspect to a greater degree. Like so many others have done, why not take a leaf out of FromSoftware's book and introduce a system that allows other Trainers to be summoned to your world for a round of (jolly) co-op?

Exploring the world with another player would add a whole new dimension to the experience.
