Pokémon Switch: 10 Ways To Make The Best Pokémon Game Ever
3. Seamless Encounters
Pokémon's had a wildly successful run on Nintendo's handhelds, but as long as it stays there, Game Freak will never be able to realize the dream of a seamless world where 'Mons aren't hidden behind loading screens.
Rendering hundreds of different monsters frolicking in fields of tall grass and dangling from the ceiling of dimly-lit caves would never be possible on the medium - it just doesn't have the power - but on the Switch? No sweat.
There's an elephant in the room to address here, of course. Should Game Freak eliminate random encounters and enable Trainers to see what it is they're about to do battle with, the element of excitement that comes with not knowing what lies in wait on the other side of that screen blackout would be lost.
It's a risk worth taking, not only to breath life into the overworld but for the new gameplay opportunities it would create. Imagine having to navigate secret, bite-sized dungeons to locate the rarest breeds of Pokémon. It beats the alternative, doing laps on the same patch of grass for hours on end, that's for sure.
This one has to be a shoo-in.
