Pokémon Switch: 10 Ways To Make The Best Pokémon Game Ever
2. Streamline The Endgame
Defeating the Elite Four may be the endgame goal presented to us by the narrative but in reality, beyond their tears of humiliation is where the meat of Pokémon's longevity lies.
For the competitive-minded, that comes in the form of breeding and IV/EV training, a rewarding - if somewhat laborious - process that results in the birth of a specimen with perfect stats. Collectors and completionists have the Pokédex to fill and shiny variations to hunt; there's no lack of incentive to keep Trainers playing, but unless you're a veteran, making sense of how each system works can be a nightmare.
Why not incorporate them directly into gameplay? Add more incentive to reach Level 100 with a 'Mon by allowing the player to choose which stats to individually increase, for example.
Oh, and while we're on the topic, limiting egg production to one at a time isn't a good design choice, Game Freak. Up the number and remove the silly requirement to have each egg take up a slot in one's party. Adopt Pokemon GO's incubator system and make them storable in the inventory. Sorted.
