8. Two New Legendaries
The Nintendo Direct also pulled a bit of a Columbo on us, adding just one more thing to the end of their video. We got our first look at the new Legendary Pokémon of Galar, and surprising reactions have been a little mixed.
Zacian & Zamazenta are both based off guard dogs/wolves, with one sporting a spiked, ruffled mane to represent a shield and the other biting down on a sword, ready to attack.
It’s a down to earth design, instantly recognisable as to which game they belong to, and the pair clearly look like a duo. Recently, there’s been some criticism that the over the top designs of the Legendaries have not meshed well with the rest of the region, in the way earliest Legendaries did.
Zacian & Zamazenta seem like a reaction to that, and some people still aren’t happy; can’t please everyone all the time.
Some fans have pointed out that they look like two Lycanrocs, one wearing Bastidon’s face and the other biting down on Honedge. While there’s similarities, this seems like its looking for a reason to complain; way back in Gen I if you set Fearow on fire you’d get a Moltres.
