Pokémon Sword & Shield: 10 New Styles That MUST Be In Gen 8
7. Alolan/Galar Pidgey
Assuming region specific evolutions are back, Pidgey could follow Rattata in being an extremely common Pokémon to get one. Both are laughably weak, but Pidgey at least evolves into Pidgeot which, while not the best Flyer, is decent enough that it can take on Kanto’s Elite Four with a good support team.
To catch up the uninitiated, in Generation VII, the region of Alola (Hawaii, basically) brought forth Alolan evolutions; Pokémon transformed into different types by their position on the island. It was a nice way to tie the Pokémon evolution to Darwin’s theory of evolution, and, for example, gave us Ice versions of Sandshrew and Vulpix, caused by them living in wintry conditions of the mountain peaks.
Assuming this stays, Galar Pokémon would be influenced by the glorious British climate. Pigeons are already incredibly common, so Pidgey makes logical sense. We do have frosty mountain peaks, but generally not where pigeons frequent. However, it’s cold enough all over that Ice still seems viable.
Normal typing can be dropped to make it Ice and Flying, which if it happened, would no doubt bring a cool, spiky white design as well as a more diverse move pool. Just please, no little moustache.
