Pokémon Sword & Shield: 10 New Styles That MUST Be In Gen 8
2. Mega Flygon
If Bellossom is one of the most deserving in need of a Mega, Flygon surely is the most deserving. Probably the best Pokémon still without one, if new Megas are introduced in Sword and Shield, it simply has to get one.
Flygon was once a beloved Pokémon, but following its Gen III debut, it’s faded into obscurity. Like the hypothetical Dragon Eeveelution, Flygon was a simpler way to add a Dragon to your team. It was a little outclassed by its peers, but it was a viable alternative nonetheless. Since then though, with the likes of Salamence getting a Mega, Flygon has been left in the dirt.
What’s worse is that it was actually supposed to have one way back in X & Y when Megas first appeared. Game Freak’s Ken Sugimori mentioned as much in an interview with Nintendo Life, claiming ‘we were unable to complete a design so it was dropped from consideration’.
That’s right, the Generation which brought us Klink, Sawk and Throh ran out of ideas for a Mega Flygon. The Dragon deserves better. Hopefully the creative minds behind Sword and Shield are able to give it the ascension it deserves.
