Pokémon Sword & Shield: 10 Predictions Based On Galar’s Map
6. Biggest Hometown Ever
The maps aren’t necessarily to scale, but it’s not just by square foot that this hometown looks to be much larger than any we’ve seen before.
The sheer amount of buildings suggests that this is closer to some of the smaller Kanto cities (Pewter, Cinnibar, Lavender Town) than a regular hometown.
There’s two smaller buildings, likely the home of you and your rival, then a train station and what’s probably the professor’s lab. But then there’s two more buildings across a narrow river, and a third up a winding road to the north east.
Everything is too spaced out to be the hometown and first regular town, but there’s also a lot going on to be right at the beginning. The presence of a train station and the sheer size suggests that rather than spending lots of time here at the start, you may need to journey back several times instead.
Hopefully this won’t mean another drawn out, hand holding tutorial, but as the first main line game on the Switch (and Sun, Moon and Let’s GO! following this pattern to an extent), don’t be surprised if that’s exactly what we get.
