Pokémon Sword & Shield: Ranking Every New Pokémon So Far

4. Wooloo

Alcremie Pokemon
Nintendo

Wooloo isn’t sitting comfortably in the fourth placed spot off the back of its ambitious design. It’s a spherical sheep (cartoon sheep are usually oval anyway) with two subtle grey braids. Despite this, it’s already established itself as a firm fan favourite.

It’s not even the first sheep Pokémon the game has done, with Mareep as an electric sheep coming in with a much better concept too. No one is really arguing that Wooloo is particularly original, yet everyone seems to love it anyway.

You don’t need to think hard to find the reasons. Sheep are definitely a symbol of Britain, Wooloo is undeniably cuddly and its simplistic design does harken back to the earlier Pokémon days of simple shapes and animals; more recent Generations have a bit of an issue with over design.

Wooloo will likely be encountered early in the game and will be a decent companion initially, though many trainers will likely abandon it once stronger ‘mons are encountered. For now though, the cute little lamb seems to have almost universal support within the fanbase, and could establish itself as a mascot for Galar moving forward.
