Project 007 Wishlist: 10 Features We Most Want From New James Bond Video Game
7. Goldeneye's Difficulty System
Most people probably don't spend too much time thinking about a game's difficulty level. Typically, it just affects how many enemies you have to deal with, how much damage they can take, and how much they can dish out.
Goldeneye on the N64 had one other trick up its sleeve. Raise the difficulty level, and all of the above would happen too, but also extra objectives were added. This is a nice touch; not only did it provide an extra challenge, but it also helped increase the replay value and allowed gamers to see more of the level. This simple tweak can help prevent things from going stale in subsequent replays.
Timesplitters 2 did the same thing as well, so it's a shame it's not been implemented more in other video games.
If you wanted to go a step further and add to the life cycle, levels could randomise the location of certain targets and objectives. Hey, you're supposed to be a Double 0 agent, nothing's going to be spoon-fed to you.
