PS2 Mini: 20 Games It MUST Include
10. Okami
A better wolf-themed Zelda game in a year which actually saw the release of a wolf-themed Zelda game, 2006’s Okami is an action adventure masterclass that boasts an enduring legacy almost akin to that of everyone’s favorite green-clad Hylian warrior.
In Okami, players take control of the Japanese Sun Goddess Amaterasu, and a major gimmick of the title is that she has the ability to effect her surroundings by way of some magical brushstrokes. It’s much more complicated than that, of course, and the folklore-esque story pairs extremely well with the beautifully-done watercolor art style.
Nearly ten years after initial release, the game made its way to both the PS4 and PC in the form of Okami HD. Newcomers to this cult classic will definitely want to experience the game’s world in brightly-colored high definition, but there remains a 4:3 option for retro elitists.
The game only ever spawned one sequel, that being Okamiden on the Nintendo DS. The system’s unique stylus input made it perfect for the platform, but the title couldn’t quite match it’s predecessor in terms of grandiosity. Perhaps a PlayStation 2 Classic inclusion will spark enough interest to warrant a true sequel.
