PS4: 10 Best Console Exclusives You Need To Play

2. Ratchet & Clank

Ratchet & Clank represents the explosive return to form of a bygone genre. Soiled in the mid-to-late 2000s by a plethora of terrible licensed tie-ins and Activision's acquisition of Crash Bandicoot, the 3D platformer was all but gone. Until now.

It's an incredibly simple formula, but here, it's stretched to its gloriously irreverent limits. Ratchet & Clank tasks you with jumping, swinging and shooting your way through a series of increasingly weird and wonderful alien worlds, using an arsenal of weapons that can only be described as a Tim Burton fever-dream.

To give an indication of what you can expect, at one point in the game, you obtain a gun that can make your enemies drop their weapons and start dancing. It may seem ridiculous, but all Ratchet & Clank wants to do is have fun - and it'll prove impossible for you to resist.

This PS4 iteration isn't 100 percent brand-new - it's based on the original game from 2002 - but Insomniac were able to add plenty new content alongside a good spit n' polish to the experience, that you'll barely notice.

More please!

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
