PS4: 10 Biggest Mistakes Sony Have Made So Far

2. Backwards Compatibility

It says a lot that one of the biggest things that Microsoft has done for the Xbox One is introduce backwards compatibility. Although it may sound like it, that isn't a dig at the Xbox. Instead, it just shows how much people want to be able to play their old games on their newest console.

The biggest step that PlayStation have made in regards to backwards compatibility is their subscription based PlayStation Now. Although the library for PS Now is pretty extensive, the fact that players have to pay a completely different subscription to gain access prevents it from being a viable option. It also doesn't help that the service is reliant on streaming, which means that gameplay is often interrupted by connection issues.

Currently, Sony does offer a range of PS2 games to be purchased and played from the PlayStation store. Although this may seem great, many of them are wildly overpriced and the range of classics doesn't include anything from the original PlayStation or the PS3. It feels half baked, and doesn't help Sony's image when it comes to backwards compatibility.

As it stands now, the PS4 simply doesn't have a good way of playing old games. At least most of them are being remastered for consumers to buy again, right?
