PS4: 10 Biggest Mistakes Sony Have Made So Far
7. Wasted Controller Features
To its credit, the DualShock 4 did introduce the Share button, which feels like the most developed out of all of the controller's features. Besides this, the DS4 has two big wasted features.
The most notable of these is the bright light found on the front of the controller. Besides changing colour depending on different situations within each game, the light is only really useful for rapidly draining the controller's batteries. It got so bad that Sony had to introduce a patch that allowed players to dim this light bar and save battery, although being able to turn it off altogether still isn't available.
Another wasted aspect of the DS4 is the big touchpad. Too small to have any useful application - yet too big to easily hide away which just makes its lack of function even more obvious - generally, developers tend to just use it as an extra options button, which is depressing considering how much Sony tried to push it in games like Infamous: Second Son.
It just seems counterproductive on Sony's part to include these features and not make any use of them, whilst somehow allowing problems like low battery and flimsy thumbsticks to continue.
