PS4: 10 Crucial Features Sony Must Implement In 2016
9. See When Friends Come Online (And Appear Offline)
The first of several features on this list that was present on the PS3 but was foolishly omitted from the PS4 is a robust notifications system that shows when your friends come online, so you can pounce on them the second they log in and convince them to spend the evening gaming with you instead of watching a Netflix movie with their partner. Of course, if you're one of those people who's maxed out their 2000-friend limit, then you'll want to control who gets to see you logging on and vice versa so you're not subject to a constant stream of 'XX has logged in' notifications and a hundred invites to join peoples' games. To that end, Sony should let us create multiple lists of friends, each with their own rules about whether they see you logging in, and whether you get to see them logging in. This'll make teaming up with your Destiny Firesquads, Rocket League Squad or GTA Crews a whole lot easier. Yes, a 'Favorite Group' feature was added last year, but that's more of a spammy, public chat room rather than a list for your personal organisation. Finally, there are times when you just want to shut yourself away from you friends' group, so an 'Appear Offline' option is also a must.
