Some people actively scoff at the idea of having to use a controller to 'pilot' a cursor around a keyboard for the sake of typing in names and strings of text, but it seems Sony's got you covered. Not only can you use your phone's keyboard if you've paired it with the app to input anything text-related, but if you click the right stick in you'll enable the controller's gyroscope functions, mapping the cursor on-screen to the movements of the controller itself. It takes a little getting used to, but imagining where the centre-point of the invisible 'beam' coming out the front of the controller is and using that to type is far faster than scrolling through once you've got it down. In addition, a recent firmware update lets you push in the Touchpad to enable literal touch-typing, utilising the 1920x900 surface resolution for some very specific movements if that's more your thing.
