PS4: 9 Major Problems Sony Face In 2016
3. Communities... Why?!
The idea of Communities is great: Get gamers to sign up to what are essentially 'Facebook news feeds' for all sorts of topics, allowing fans of particular websites to group together, TV shows, anything. Brilliant. The problem comes immediately after, where if you've joined anything even remotely popular, you'll log in to find a notification telling you there are 'new messages' every.single.time.
With no dashboard widget or community feed app to ease the process of hopping between menus, you've awkwardly got to fumble from your notifications menu, into the chat feed of your respective community, and then get to navigating images and feedback with your touchpad controller.
It all ends up feeling incredibly half-baked. Where are the Rocket League-like D-pad shortcuts to leave one of a variety of responses to peoples' comments? Why can't we instant-upload or share any number of achievements, screenshots and videos to the feed itself?
At no point does Community integration feel like a natural extension of the console's social media tools, instead coming across as a bolt-on extra - one that you'll inevitably give up eventually.
