PS4 Pro: 10 Ongoing Mistakes That Just Cost Sony This Generation
2. Backwards Compatibility
One of the biggest things that came from Sony reclaiming their throne was an approach to backwards compatibility that everyone immediately scoffed at - having the gall to make you pay for games you already own.
The fallback was this vague "It's Netflix for games!" setup, which if that were true, we'd have access to FAR more titles than right now. Instead, Sony continue to charge a monthly fee for a forever-stuttering streaming service, and despite Microsoft one-upping them to offer backwards compatibility by inserting your old discs, they've not changed their policies.
Nintendo remain the only company to put legacy up front as a reason to invest in a given system, and as Microsoft have recognised the value in nostalgia and rediscovering certain titles you may have missed first time round on their Games With Gold deals, so to must Sony, lest they lose even more customers.
