PS4 Vs. Xbox One: Which Console Won E3 2016?
5. Other Hardware
Microsoft showed off a whole lot more hardware than the Sony at E3, but that's indicative of the fact that the Xbox One needs a new image if it's to gain some ground in the console war.
Aside from the mysterious Project Scorpio, Microsoft also announced the decidedly less mysterious Xbox One S. The console is a smaller version of the Xbox One, with a more elegant design and a tweaked controller that has textured grip on its handles. On the inside, there have been some big changes too, including HDR (High Dynamic Range) support which will give games a better colour palette, and 4K DVD and Blu-Ray support. At $299 (£210), it's a pretty good deal even just as a 4K Blu-Ray player.
The other big hardware-ish announcement from Microsoft was the the Xbox Design Lab, which lets players create custom XBO controllers on a website, messing around with colours on every part of the controller, and even engraving writing onto them.
Sony, on the other hand, played its cards close to its chest. Though with its VR and PS4 Neo already known to be on the way, it really didn't have that much of a point to prove. Microsoft is very much playing catch-up, though with the Xbox One S, it's done so with gusto.
Winner: Draw - more coming from Microsoft, but Sony had no point to prove.
