PS5: 10 CONFIRMED Console Details You Need To Know
2. It Will Support 8K Resolution
The gaming world at the moment is all about 4K and HDR. The former feature is finally becoming just about manageable for casual players to get their heads around, with 4K TVs becoming more commonplace and every industry attempting to standardise that resolution across the board for home media.
While the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X boast 4K capabilities though, very few titles are actually rendered natively at that level, which makes it a bit of a surprise that the PS5 will support 8K resolutions, effectively future-proofing the console in a way the barely-can-hit-1080p original PS4 simply wasn't.
What's interesting though is that this, combined with all of the other high-end specs the console is shipping with, will no doubt make it a costly machine to pick up at launch. Cerny has even hinted that it won't be cheap, but Sony aren't likely to repeat the mistakes of the PS3's lofty RRP which means - and this is nothing but wild speculation - a price point up to the $500 mark wouldn't be out of the question.
