PS5: 10 CONFIRMED Console Details You Need To Know
1. It WON'T Be Out In 2019
Perhaps the most essential piece of information that the Wired piece clarified, is that the next-generation will not be starting at any point in 2019, at least not on Sony's end. Though they've had studios - most likely first-party ones - working with the dev-kits for a while, they've only recently ramped up sending them out to other developers in order for them to alter their games in preparation of the console's launch.
Consequently, the often-rumoured 2020 release date for the PS5 seems about right. Sony are skipping most of the big conferences this year, and presumably letting both Days Gone and, if it hits its date, The Last of Us 2 be the major swan songs for the Playstation 4.
It makes sense that once those games ship, they'll come out and reveal their next machine proper at a Playstation Meeting-style event next year, potentially even re-announcing those previously-mentioned titles like Death Stranding and Ghosts of Tsushima as PS5 cross-platform releases.
