PS5: 10 Features It MUST Have

4. A Monthly PlayStation Legacy Service

I've covered physical backwards compatibility and honouring digital purchases, but the best way to showcase just how many titles are underneath Sony's umbrella would be a Nintendo Switch Online-esque "legacy" service.

This looks to be the way Nintendo are going, having populated NSO with NES games for now, and renewed their N64 patent for the future. You have to imagine the lack of SNES availability is down to the SNES Classic being the latest "mini console", but once sales die down altogether, it's likely Switch Online will turn into a hub for all-things Nintendo, just like Virtual Console.

All of this highlights the need to respect past console libraries by supplying consumers with cherrypicked titles, opening the door for two or three games every month, like PS Plus, but from the entirety of the PlayStation back-catalogue.

Metal Gear Solid, Final Fantasy, God of War, Infamous, Jak & Daxter, The Last of Us. - there are so many franchises that given exposure, would result in bigger fandoms and more purchases, plus we could get series-specific months or sequel-teasing retrospectives.

Why the likes of Sony don't take full advantage of their libraries is beyond me.
