PS5: 10 Major Worries Sony MUST Address
1. The Price
Finally, we have one that's on many people's minds: The price. It's often the biggest deciding factor of a console's success out of the gate, especially with regards to competition.
Will the PlayStation 5 be a drain on our wallets? After that "599 US dollars" fiasco with the PS3, they don't want to be caught out again. Neither company dares to show their hand too soon, as their competitor will simply take one look at the announcement and drop the price accordingly, thus snatching a competitive advantage right out of the gate.
It certainly helped Sony out in the early days as the PlayStation 4 sold for £100 less than the Xbox One, triggering roars of excitement upon its announcement back at E3 2013. Seven years later, they don't have that open goal to take this time and speculation continues to persist.
I'd wager the console shouldn't cost any more than £500 here in the UK. There's also the question of the price difference between the disc and disc-less versions of the console. Sony will have to play this one carefully while also not leaving it too late, given how the PlayStation 5 is set to arrive at the end of 2020.
