PS5: 10 Major Worries Sony MUST Address
3. Integration With PC
In recent years, Sony has worked to bring some PlayStation experiences onto other platforms for the first time. Some of these include Heavy Rain, Beyond Two Souls and now Horizon Zero Dawn is on its way to the platform.
On the other side of the coin, Microsoft is offering a value proposition by allowing gamers to play the titles they purchase across both Xbox and PC. It appears admirable to fans, but from the perspective of the Xbox as a brand, it has diluted its overall identity over the last five years.
Would people buy the next Xbox when they can get all its games on PC with a higher resolution to boot?
Bringing exclusives to another platform will be welcomed by the community, but they need to balance this out with their own console. Right now it appears the chosen strategy is to keep exclusives on PlayStation consoles at first, let them make their money, then bring them to PC later.
This seems like a reasonable approach, though they should be careful not to merge with the competing platform to much, or it may hurt the PlayStation brand in the long run. The console needs to come first in any multiplatform strategy.
