PS5: 10 Most Promising Details You Haven’t Heard About
2. Cost
If Sony have learned anything in all their years in the console market, hopefully "don't aim high" with the price was one of them. We're all familiar with the obscene proposed price for the PS3 back in 2005, lest we ever let them forget.
Though at the same time, we can't expect them to have it as low as the current Pro generation of PlayStation, which still sit in the £300-350 price range. It's a rule of thumb that new, desirable consoles and tech comes with a higher price point, especially on launch.
As it stands, there's no official word on price, with analysts currently benchmarking a $499 (or about £450 in UK market comparisons) as a starting point. Again, we don't yet know if or how many variants of the PS5 we'll be getting, but the money seems to be, well, on the money about how much you'll be expected to fork out.
I would imagine controllers to still be in the ~£50 region though, as seems to be the standard at launch.
