PS5: 10 Ways Sony Can DESTROY Xbox Series X
7. Reward Those Still Playing In 1080p
As easy as it is for Sony to brag about their latest console's 4K capabilities, one of the worst mistakes they can make is alienate those not able to benefit fully from the console's graphical chops. As much as trailers attempt to hide it, the reality is that many have not committed to playing their games on a 4K TV, due to the considerable cost that comes with getting one.
Therefore, Sony would be smart to showcase what their consoles are capable of doing on 1080p screens more frequently, and to specifically cater to their users. Working to provide multiple graphics settings in their games would be a good place to start.
We saw this when the PS4 Pro launched, as some games implemented "performance mode" so that those on lower resolution screens could enjoy higher-frame rates. If games are running at a perfect 30fps when running at full 4K, then it does not seem unreasonable that they can run at higher frame-rates when played at lower resolutions.
This would add a different selling point to those that are still on 1080p TVs, and would help them to feel as though they are still getting special features from upgrading their console.
