The SSD was the feature that gained the most attention back when Mark Cerny first spoke to Wired, but the architect elaborated even more on how the new technology will benefit players and developers going forward - most of which lines up with the leaked Sony presentations that hit the internet over the past few months.

As per the Wired report:

"Not only is its raw read speed dramatically faster than a hard drive, but it saves crucial space. How developers will take advantage of that space will likely differ; some may opt to build a larger or more detailed game world, others may be content to shrink the size of the games or patches."

It appears the change will give developers even more options when it comes to how they craft their games, and should lift the limitations they currently face on the PS4.
