PS5: 5 Must-Buy Launch Games (And 5 That Will Suck)

Abzu developer Giant Squid is abandoning the oceans in favour of a woodland setting with The Pathless, a third-person action-adventure which places you in the middle of a massive sandbox with no map to guide you, and an entire world to explore at a glorious 60 frames per second.

As a master archer, you're joined by an eagle companion, and with no helpful mini map in the corner of the screen, you'll be left to use "Spirit Vision" to find your way around and track down locations of interest. Collecting crystals means you can upgrade your character, the Hunter, and the eagle.

It definitely sounds like The Pathless could be the PlayStation's version of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and the possible start of an exciting new franchise for the PS5.

There's a chance it won't have mass market appeal, but providing enough players give it a chance on launch day, The Pathless could be here to stay. It's without a doubt one of the most innovative and original games coming to the new console, and that alone deserves to be celebrated.
