PS5: 9 Brand New CONFIRMED Details You Need To Know
9. SSD Makes Loading MUCH Quicker
The internal SSD has been the feature most talked about by Sony in regards to their next-gen plans so far, with Mark Cerny discussing how the faster read speeds of the drive will dramatically lift limitations developers currently have when creating games.
Wired mentioned a presentation they were shown comparing Marvel's Spider-Man being played on a PS4 and a PS5 dev kit, with the SSD in the latter machine reducing load times massively and increasing the speed at which the world can be rendered.
While it was impressive seeing those details written down, a glimpse of that presentation has now been revealed on Twitter, highlighting more tangibly just how much impact the tech is going to have on games going forward.
Also, Sony have cleared up the difference between the ability to add an SSD to an existing PS4 (which is possible) and the custom-built system they've implemented on the PS5. Installing an SSD on a regular PS4 will increase performance, but apparently the PS5's will be 19 times more powerful.
