PS5, Xbox Scarlett & Nintendo Switch: 9 Things We Need To See
3. Nintendo - Investing In New Franchises
Whether you're a big fan of Mario, Zelda, Donkey Kong or any of the big single player franchises that grace Nintendo's consoles every generation, It's hard to not want some wholly original content from the company. Whilst titles like Splatoon and Arms were attempts to come out the gate with something fresh, both were Nintendo's effort at creating a vibrant multiplayer scene which is, arugably, not where the red-brand shines the most.
In truth, Nintendo's biggest priority should be to expand its singleplayer roster of franchises. For one of the biggest and most innovative companies in the industry, they rarely lend their talents to creating new worlds or characters, content to always dip back into their trusty nostalgia bag instead of bringing something new to the table.
To maintain the momentum Nintendo have gained since launching the Switch, the company should look towards the future rather than the past. Introducing new cornerstone franchises alongside the likes of Mario and Zelda would do a lot to strengthen the appeal of the console going forward, especially as the Switch has been something of a resurgence for Nintendo following their lacklustre debut of the Wii U.
For the Switch to truly cement itself going forward it has to show it's all about progressive new experiences, not to mention that a couple new franchises wouldn't hurt financially either...
