Rage 2: 10 Features That Prove It's Better Than DOOM

1. Quirky, Utterly Insane Characters

While DOOM may have deservedly won its fair share of awards, it surely didn't win any for its characters. Again, any extensive narrative-driven inclusions would've gone against the framework of DOOM, but it's still worth mentioning the completely forgettable personalities included in the campaign. No quirky side companion, no memorable big bad, just DOOM Guy and (mostly) face-less audio logs.

This is an area where Rage 2 was always going to succeed, if not for the fact that it made something of an effort to include NPCs with some personality. After all, a wasteland is only as good as the cast of characters which fills it. Thankfully there are some distinctive faces among the bunch, like J.K Stiles and Kvasir that provide some humour and life.

While the game could've used even more people to meet and learn about, the ones available at least give you presences to consistently interact with, unlike DOOM which took the Bioshock approach of 'every character is in witness protection so hide their faces!'
