Rage 2: 10 Features That Prove It's Better Than DOOM
2. Racing Post-Apocalyptic Side Activity Wackiness
Keeping with the theme of Mad Max-inspired tomfoolery, Rage 2 keeps the minimap chock-full of insane side activities to ensure proceedings never feel too low-key. Activities like Mutant Bash offer the chance to sharpen your aim-bot skills with ever-increasing enemy hordes coming towards you, Thunderdome style. There are the previously-mentioned convoys, races, and some quality bounty hunting on top of that, in case your vehicles were getting covered in spider webs.
DOOM had some side missions you could take on, although they were just as straightforward and task-oriented as the rest of the game. Not a bad thing, but it does illustrate the difference between the two titles. DOOM is about moving and progressing efficiently, often foregoing the little details or exploration in favor of getting to that next mission. Rage 2 promotes a greater focus on incentivizing misadventures and longer overall playthroughs.
This point, possibly more than the others, boils down to personal preference. All in all, if you're about spending more time in the game world, Rage 2 delivers that lengthier stay and plenty more things to do while you're there.
