Rainbow Six Siege: 10 Glaring Problems Ubisoft Still Haven't Fixed
2. Warden
Warden has quickly become somewhat of a meme since his release along with Operation Phantom Sight back in June 2019. He was quickly considered one of the worst operators in Rainbow Six Siege, largely due to his extremely situational gadget and mediocre crop of weapons.
Warden’s gadget is his particularly cool glasses, which allow him to negate the effects of flashbangs, smoke (when stationary) and Ying’s Candelas at the press of a button. This might sound great but when factoring in that flashbangs and Ying’s Candelas can be avoided anyway by turning away it quickly becomes apparent that Warden is an extremely situational defender.
This has led to one of the lowest pick rates in platinum rank and above based on Ubisoft's developer notes and a Warden sighting is often very rare across lower ranks also (unless someone is trolling or is really that dedicated to the operator). This is somewhat surprising considering that the recent meta has seen Ying become so popular and Warden can be considered her direct counter on defence.
Ubisoft should take a really long look at Warden and try to figure ways in order to make the operator more appealing, whether it’s giving him more powerful weaponry or reworking his gadget to be more impactful.
